commissions

Everyone has their own special North Country scene. I am pleased to offer commission sales as a part of my Works for Sale.  I can work with you using your photograph(s) to create your unique view of the North Country or memory.

What can I expect? I can work from your digital images or actual prints. I can also combine elements from one or more photographs to create the scene/look that you prefer. My specialty is landscape paintings. I do incorporate structures and simple figures in my work.

What is the process?  After receiving your images and your idea of the painting, I will begin work. If you have ideas about colors, just let me know when you submit your photographs. This is the time to let your ideas flow. Only minor corrections can be done with watercolors once works commences. For both our protection and respect for other's work, please do not submit copyright-protected photographs.

How much does it cost? Commission rates as follows, deposit in parentheses:

4 x 6" $35   ($10.00)
7 x 10" $50   ($15.00)
8 x 10" $75   ($20.00)

9 x 12" $100   ($25.00)
10 x 14" $150   ($40.00)
12 x 16" $200   ($50.00)

These rates include a custom cut double-mat, maximum size 20 x 24". Commissions require a 25% non-refundable deposit.  I custom cut my own mats, but I keep an inventory of neutral colors. If there is something special that you'd like, I can order it at an extra charge.   Shipping and Minnesota sales tax are not included.

What does shipping cost? I ship via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation and insurance on your painting. For paintings with a mat up to 11 x 14", the cost is $6.50. For works with a mat up to 20 x 24", the cost is $12.00.  Simply add shipping to the total cost.  Free shipping to APO or FPO addresses.

How long will it take? A lot depends upon the size of your custom piece and the amount of detail. For smaller works, you can expect a 2 week turnaround. For larger works, expect up to a 3-4 week turnaround.

What if I don't like it? I will need to be contacted within 3 days of receipt of your painting to arrange a return. The artwork must be returned in its original condition. I will refund your commission cost minus the deposit and shipping on its return.
